Bern Bass Podcast 27 EASTER SPECIAL 2017 – Wenzel Dashington (aka TLWS)

Wenzel Dashington, man of many monikers, is the founder of the event label Tech Noir Club. Inspired by the 85/170 Autonomic sound, the more minimalistic / deeper side of 140 music, scores to dystopian movies & film noir imagery, as well as House & Techno, he established the brand in 2010. For his event series (discontinued from 2014) in the venue Turnhalle in Bern he used to promote his favourites of the local scene as well as international artists.
He was lucky enough to have been exposed to rap music in its ‚golden era’ (during the mid-90’s), when he began collecting records. When the whole bling-bling ting in hiphop started to become rampant, Wenzel Dashington emigrated to Leftfield, Abstract & Headz, whereas Ninja Tune was his biggest influence. Juxtaposed to his love for slow, trippy beats, Wenzel Dashington highly enjoyed the other end of the spectrum as well – D&B. Reprazent’s album ‚New Forms’ in 1997 and the precedent machine-gun-Jungle of ‚The Self Evident Truth Of An Intuitive Mind’ by T-Power left their marks in shaping the adolescent’s musical tastebuds.
Recognizing that he sucks in writing graffiti, he decided to equip himself with his first pair of decks in 1999. Since 2007, Wenzel Dashington also spins Dubstep records, and with this mix he wants to showcase the developments of the 140 sound within the past few years.
